Slippery Rock Blanks IUP
in PSAC Contest
Sarah Arsenault scored two second half goals in a span of
1:14 to give visiting Slippery Rock a 2-0 victory over IUP
Tuesday afternoon.
Slippery Rock improved to 9-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the
PSAC while IUP dropped to 7-5 and 3-5 in conference play.
After a scoreless first half, Slippery Rock went in front
just 6:33 into the second stanza when Arsenault stepped in
front of a pass and put the ball past IUP goalkeeper Sarah
Daw.
Just over a minute later, Arsenault took advantage of an
IUP failure to clear the ball away from its own goal and
found the back of the net to make it a 2-0 contest.
Daw faced 11 shots and made nine saves for IUP. Amanda
Wier was credited with six saves for Slippery Rock.
IUP travels to Geneva on Thursday for a non-conference
game beginning at 5:00.
