Brittany Pikur Named
PSAC West Player of the Week
Junior midfielder
Brittany Pikur has been named the PSAC West Player of the Week for
women’s soccer, making it two selections in a row for IUP. Goalkeeper
Becky Dillard was recognized by the conference a week ago.
Pikur,
from Gibsonia and a graduate of Pine-Richland High School, scored two
goals and added two assists in a 1-1 week for IUP. She scored the first
two goals in a 5-2 win over Edinboro on Saturday and later had an assist
against the Fighting Scots.
Pikur helped IUP take a
1-0 first half lead over No.2 West Chester on Tuesday when she assisted
on a goal by Sarah Romasco. But the Golden Rams rallied to take a 2-1
victory.
For the season, Pikur
has scored eight goals and two assists for 18 points. She is second on
the team and eighth in the PSAC in points while ranking in a tie for
second on the team and tied for seventh in the conference in goals.
Pikur is also climbing
the IUP career record book. She is seventh in school history with 19
goals and her five assists gives her a total of 43 points, good for
eighth place. Pikur has played in 54 of 55 games in her three-year
career and started all 32 games the past two seasons.
IUP, ranked 16th
in the nation, is 10-4 overall and 7-1 in the PSAC West and tied for
