IUP Drops Overtime
Decision to Edinboro
Amy Jeffries scored an unassisted goal off a rebound with 9:42 expired in
overtime to give Edinboro a 2-1 victory over IUP on Saturday, handing the
Indians their sixth straight loss.
IUP fell to 3-6 overall and 0-5 in the PSAC while the Fighting Scots are
now 6-5-3 and 2-3-2 in conference play.
Jamie Tekotte hit the post in the sudden death overtime period, and Jeffries
put the ensuing shot past IUP goalkeeper Sarah Daw to give Edinboro the win.
The two final shots gave the Fighting Scots a final margin of 33-12 in that
category.
IUP took a 1-0 lead when Tia Kipp scored the only goal of the first half at
the 23:40 mark. Edinboro tied the game with 18:05 remaining in regulation
when Stacey Oldenburg found the back of the net.
Daw made 19 saves for IUP. Amy Stevens started in goal for Edinboro and
stopped five shots while Abby Mortus made two saves in relief.
IUP plays next at Slippery Rock on Tuesday at 4:00.
