IUP Suffers First Loss in Narrow
Defeat to East Stroudsburg
Kate Melcer scored the only goal of the game with 19:24 left in
the first half to give East Stroudsburg a 1-0 victory over IUP
in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup Saturday
afternoon.
The loss was the first of the season for the Indians following
four victories. IUP is now 1-1 in PSAC play. East Stroudsburg
improved to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Melcer's shot was deflected into the goal by IUP's Corey Weir
past keeper Sarah Daw. East Stroudsburg finished the game with
a 19-14 advantage in shots.
Daw registered nine saves for IUP while Lindsay Vandergrift was
credited with eight saves for the Warriors.
IUP returns to PSAC play on Wednesday with 4:30 contest at
Shippensburg.
