IUP Blanks Clarion in
Regular Season Finale
IUP did not let the Golden Eagles of Clarion soar as the Indians
won easily 4-0 Tuesday afternoon to conclude their 2003 campaign.
IUP improved to 13-6 and 6-6 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference. Clarion fell to 3-14 and 0-11 in conference play.
The Indians were eliminated from the PSAC playoff race on Sunday.
Cora Roeder scored a goal and had two assists for IUP, including
a penalty shot that got the rout started. The Indians would go
on to score all four of their goals before halftime to secure
the victory.
Emily Thomas scored the next two goals on passes from Meghan
Jones and Roeder to build the IUP lead to 3-0. Crystal Heder
rounded out the scoring late in the first half on another assist
by Roeder.
In goal for IUP was Sarah Daw who faced five shots and tallied
three saves. She was relieved by Georgia Goodman at the start of
the second half, and Goodman faced seven shots and had five saves
on the day.
For Clarion it was Christina Gattens in goal. She faced 15 shots
and recorded 10 saves while allowing all four goals.
