IUP Coasts Past Carlow
Crystal Heder found the net early in the contest and IUP took off
from there, routing visiting Carlow by a score of 8-0 on Thursday
afternoon.
IUP (3-0) has been largely untested through the first three games
of the season entering its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
opener Tuesday at Lock Haven. The Indians have outscored their
first three opponents by a combined score of 17-1.
IUP raced to a 6-0 lead by halftime against the outmatched Celtics.
Shanelle Peters made it 2-0 less than six minutes after Heder's
goal, and tallies by Erin Falce, Cora Roeder, Lisa Castelli and
Danielle Lusetich made it a runaway in IUP's favor.
Carlow (1-1) managed just three shots on goal and none in the
second half. The Indians tallied twice more with Krista Dohn and
Shelley Queiser hitting the net to give IUP its final margin of
victory.
Peters added two assists while Falce, Queiser and Lusetich were
also credited with assists. Sarah Daw made only one save, and
Melanie Marietta stopped 10 IUP shot attempts.
