IUP Edges Bloomsburg to Keep
PSAC Playoff Hopes Alive
IUP posted a key win to keep its hopes alive for a berth in
the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs, downing
host Bloomsburg by a score of 2-1 Saturday afternoon.
With three conference games remaining, IUP has 12 points on
the strength of its 4-5 PSAC record. The Indians are behind
Kutztown and Slippery Rock (22 points), Millersville (18),
West Chester (17) and Edinboro and Lock Haven (13).
IUP still has games remaining against Millersville and West
Chester next weekend. The top six teams at the end of the
regular season qualify for the conference playoffs.
IUP is 9-5 overall. Bloomsburg dropped to 4-11 overall and
3-6 in conference play.
In the win over Bloomsburg, Erin Falce scored her 12th goal
of the season with 28:34 remaining in the game to break a
1-1 tie.
The Huskies took a 1-0 lead when Vanessa Peregrim scored 18
minutes into the contest. The Indians tied it up with only
2:33 left before intermission when Lisa Castelli scored.
Sarah Daw went the distance in goal for IUP and was credited
with 12 saves. Amanda Lawler stopped 11 shots for Bloomsburg.
IUP plays a non-conference game on Tuesday at Seton Hill.
