IUP Dominates Play but Lock Haven Emerges with 2-1 Overtime Victory

Boxscore

IUP held a 28-15 advantage in shots and took 11 corner kicks to only four for Lock Haven, but the Crimson Hawks could only find the net once in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Bald Eagles in a PSAC West contest on Monday.

IUP, the preseason favorite in the PSAC West, fell to 0-2 in the division and 2-2 overall.  Lock Haven improved to 2-2 and 1-1.

Colleen Kafka scored her second unassisted goal of the game with 5:06 expired in the first overtime period to give Lock Haven the victory.  Kafka had also scored with 7:09 left in regulation to force the extra period.

After a scoreless first half, IUP took the lead on a goal by Melissa Kornock, her second in the past two games.  Sarah Romasco assisted on the tally with 26:48 remaining in the second half.

Despite firing a total of 18 shots over the final 45 minutes, the Crimson Hawks were only able to register the Kornock goal.

Kelsey Dowling went the distance in goal for IUP and made three saves.  Emily Wagner stopped nine shots for Lock Haven.

IUP returns home for another PSAC West contest against Clarion on Thursday at 4 p.m.
