IUP Drops PSAC Crossover Decision to 12th Ranked West Chester

Danielle Gerz and Rita Alton scored goals and Hilary Smart had a shutout in goal to lead host West Chester to a 2-0 victory over IUP in a PSAC crossover game on Saturday.

The loss was the fourth in the past two season for the Crimson Hawks against the Golden Rams, including West Chester wins in the PSAC and Northeast Region championship game in 2006.

West Chester entered the game ranked 12th in the National Soccer Coaches Association poll.

Gerz scored off an assist by Cindi Nickles with 12:55 left in the first half.  Alton added an unassisted insurance goal with just 4:02 remaining in the game.

Kelsey Dowling had three saves for IUP while Smart made two saves for West Chester.  The Golden Rams outshot IUP by an 8-5 margin.

IUP returns home on Thursday for a 4 p.m. game against Millersville.
