Sarah Romasco, Melissa Kornock Score Twice in Crossover Victory Over Millersville

Boxscore

Sarah Romasco and Melissa Kornock both scored two goals in the first half as IUP built a 4-0 lead en route to a 5-1 victory over Millersville in a PSAC crossover game on Thursday afternoon.

The Crimson Hawks are now 6-4 while the Marauders dropped to 1-9-2.

Romasco scored once and Kornock had both of her goals in the opening 9:12 of the game to stake IUP to a quick 3-0 cushion.  Romasco added her team-leading eighth goal of the year with three minutes left before intermission.

Kornock, who assisted on Romasco's second goal, has six tallies on the year.  Carina Honeygosky had two assists and Brittany Pikur had one in the first half.

Pikur then rounded out IUP's scoring with her third goal of the season with 10 minutes gone in the second half.  She was assisted by Kyra Hricik.

The Crimson Hawks held a 28-4 advantage in shots and took seven corner kicks to none for Millersville.  The Marauders got their lone goal with five minutes left when Lauren Thomas found the net.

Kelsey Dowling was forced to make only one save for IUP.  Karrine Riggins stopped five shots in the first half for Millersville, and Rebecca Cetkowski had six saves in the second half.

IUP will be seeking revenge against its next two opponents.  The Crimson Hawks travel to Edinboro on Monday in a game that was postponed last week by lightning.  IUP then hosts Slippery Rock next Wednesday.

Both Edinboro and Slippery Rock defeated the Crimson Hawks earlier this season.
