IUP Dominates Play but
Lock Haven Emerges with 2-1 Overtime Victory

IUP held a 28-15 advantage in shots and took 11 corner kicks to only
four for Lock Haven, but the Crimson Hawks could only find the net once
in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Bald Eagles in a PSAC West contest on
Monday.
IUP, the preseason favorite in the PSAC West, fell to 0-2 in the
division and 2-2 overall. Lock Haven improved to 2-2 and 1-1.
Colleen Kafka scored her second unassisted goal of the game with 5:06
expired in the first overtime period to give Lock Haven the victory.
Kafka had also scored with 7:09 left in regulation to force the extra
period.
After a scoreless first half, IUP took the lead on a goal by Melissa
Kornock, her second in the past two games. Sarah Romasco assisted
on the tally with 26:48 remaining in the second half.
Despite firing a total of 18 shots over the final 45 minutes, the
Crimson Hawks were only able to register the Kornock goal.
Kelsey Dowling went the distance in goal for IUP and made three saves.
Emily Wagner stopped nine shots for Lock Haven.
IUP returns home for another PSAC West contest against Clarion on
Thursday at 4 p.m.
