Sarah Romasco Score Goals to Lift IUP Past Clarion

Carina Honeygosky and
Sarah Romasco scored goals, one in each half, to lift IUP to a 2-1
victory over Clarion in a PSAC West women’s soccer contest Monday night.
IUP won for the third
time in its past four games and is 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC
West. Clarion dropped to 4-5 and 1-4 in the division.
Honeygosky
(pictured) scored her first collegiate goal with 1:47 left in the first
half to give IUP a 1-0 lead at intermission. Romasco made it 2-0 with
34:41 remaining in the contest when she scored her team-leading 10th
goal of the year off an assist by Shana Speese.
Aimee Zellers ended the
shutout bid with a goal with 10:17 left.
IUP held a 25-7
advantage in shots but were thwarted by Clarion goalkeeper Jessica Reed,
who made 10 saves. Becky Dillard played the first 77 minutes in the net
for IUP and made three saves before April Hunsberger took over for the
final 13 minutes.
IUP returns home on
Thursday for a non-conference game against West Virginia Wesleyan
beginning at 4 p.m.
