Erin Falce broke the IUP single game record with four goals,
including one just 20 seconds into the contest, to lift IUP to a 9-1 rout
over visiting Penn State Altoona.
The previous record for goals in a game was three on nine
occasions, with Falce reaching that mark last year, also against Penn State
Altoona.
In only a year and three games at IUP, Falce has already
scored 20 goals and 50 points, becoming only the fifth player in the 11-year
history of the program to reach those plateaus.
IUP also tied the school mark for goals in a game first set
against Daemen in 2002.
Falce had a hat trick by halftime, and Emily Thomas, Selena
Stern and Kirsten Hogg also scored in the opening 45 minutes to stake IUP to
a 6-0 lead at intermission.
Falce added her fourth goal of the game in the second half.
Amanda Fecik and Brittany Pikur also found the net during the stanza.
Falce, Thomas and Corey Weir had assists for the Indians.
Sarah Daw and Becky Dillard both played 30 minutes in goal while Breanna
Campion and Tabitha Wiest saw 15 minutes of action. Daw was credited
with two saves and Campion made one.
IUP finishes its four-game, season-opening homestand
Thursday against Point Park. The Indians open PSAC West play on
Saturday at Slippery Rock.
