Falce Ties IUP Single
Season Goal Record in Win over Gannon
Erin Falce tied the IUP single season record for goals and broke the
mark for points in one year, scoring two times in a 2-0 non-conference
win over Gannon Sunday afternoon.
IUP has won five in a row and improved to 9-1 on
the season while Gannon is now 4-5.
Falce already has 19 goals and 45 points in just 10
games this season. Amy Peterson had 19 goals and 43 points in 1994, the
first year of the IUP women’s soccer program. Falce also pushed her
career goal total to 33 in only 1 ½ seasons, trailing Peterson by just
nine in that category.
Falce put IUP in front of the host Golden Knights
with 11:28 expired in the first half off an assist by Cora Roeder. The
score stayed at 1-0 until the Indians added an insurance goal when Falce
took a pass from Emily Thomas and chipped a shot past Tiffani Parks with
29:32 left in the game.
Sarah Daw played the first 72 minutes in goal for
IUP and made three saves. Becky Dillard registered one save in 18
minutes. Parks finished with five saves for Gannon, which held a 14-12
advantage in shots.
IUP returns to Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference West play on Tuesday when the Indians host California in a
4:00 contest.
