Falce Tallies Three
Goals to Lead IUP Past Clarion
Erin Falce continued her climb up the IUP record book, scoring three
times to lead the Indians past Clarion by a score of 4-1 in a PSAC West
contest Wednesday afternoon.
IUP won its fourth in a row and improved to 8-1 and 2-1 in the PSAC
West. Clarion dropped to 1-8 and 0-3 in the division.
Falce increased her goal total for the year to 17, already tied for
second in the IUP single season record book, while her 41 points gives
her sole possession of second in that category.
Falce also moved into second place in career goals scored with 31 and
is third in points with 76.
Corey Weir scored the first IUP goal against the Golden Eagles off a
corner kick from Falce just 1:08 into the contest. Falce found the
net for the first time just 3:04 later when she headed in a pass from
Selena Stern.
Falce made it 3-0 with 6:17 left before halftime, with the assist
credited to Crystal Heder. After Clarion cut its deficit to 3-1 on
a goal by Melissa Alonzo, Falce and Heder connected again with 22:02
remaining to round out the scoring.
IUP held an 18-12 advantage in shots, with Sarah Daw making nine
saves for the Indians. C.J. Gattens came up with eight saves for
Clarion.
IUP is back in action Sunday with a non-conference game at Gannon
beginning at 3:00.
