IUP Explodes for Three Second Half Goals to Rally Past Bloomsburg

IUP rallied from a one-goal deficit at halftime by scoring three times after intermission en route to a 3-1 victory over Bloomsburg in its regular season finale.

The Indians take a 16-3 record into the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs while Bloomsburg dropped to 7-8-2.

The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 2:30 into the game when Lauren Hess scored off an assist by Jen Fico.  Bloomsburg maintained the lead until midway through the second half when IUP erupted for two goals in a span of three minutes.

Krista Dohn tied the game with 25:25 remaining, with Emily Thomas picking up her first assist of the game.  Kirsten Hogg broke the tie at the 22:25 mark on a direct kick, and the Indians added an insurance goal with 3:36 left with Thomas feeding Jamie Gass, who scored her first goal of the season.

Sarah Daw played the first 87 minutes in goal for IUP and made four saves.  Tabitha Wiest finished up after the Indians took their two-goal lead and made one save over the final three minutes.  Brittany Moses had three saves for Bloomsburg.

IUP opens PSAC tournament play at Lock Haven in a first round contest on Tuesday at 1:00.  The winner of that game will visit Slippery Rock in the semifinals on November 5.  The remaining Western Division team will host the conference championship game on November 7.
