IUP Season Wraps Up
with Loss to Adelphi in NCAA Northeast Region Tournament

Josephine Coiro scored both goals to lead Adelphi
to a 2-0 win over IUP in the opening round of the NCAA Division II
Northeast Region tournament at Southampton, N.Y.
The loss ends the most successful season in IUP
history at 19-4. IUP set a school record for most wins in a season
and captured its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title
since 1995.
The Indians were making their first ever appearance
in the NCAA tournament.
Adelphi (18-3) is the two-time defending region
champion and will play host LIU-Southampton on Sunday. The
Colonials posted a 4-3 overtime win over West Chester in Friday's other
quarterfinal.
Coiro scored her first goal 19:20 into the game off
an assist by Shannon McEntee and added an insurance tally with 18:43
left, with the assist going to Lauren Lopez.
Adelphi controlled play throughout, taking 20 shots
to only one for the Indians. Erin Falce provided IUP's best
chance, putting a header on a corner kick just over the crossbar midway
through the opening half.
Sarah Daw played the first 79 minutes in goal for
IUP, allowing both Panther goals while making five saves. Becky
Dillard stopped one shot over the final 11 minutes.
Christine Conway was not forced to make a save for
Adelphi.
