IUP won its second golf tournament in as many events this spring, taking a six-stroke victory at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational at the Hartefeld National Golf Club in Avondale.

The Crimson Hawks had a two-day score of 603 to best PSAC rival Millersville.  IUP also won the Lonnie Barton Invitational earlier this month and has a total of three tournament titles on the year and has finished in the top three in six of seven events.

Following IUP and Millersville were West Chester, which finished 19 shots behind the Crimson Hawks at 622, Pace (624) and Dominican (626).  In all, there were 19 teams entered in the tournament.

Cory Stelick was the top IUP individual finisher, firing a one-over par score of 145 to place fourth.  He was four shots behind medalist Corey Gast of Millersville and two behind Mike Dominici of Pace and Steven Cutler of Goldey-Beacom.

Also finishing in the top 10 was Gavin Smith, who tied for ninth with a score of 153.  Rounding out the IUP competitors were Nic Milito (154, tied for 13th), Thomas Facciani (156, tied for 22nd) and Ryan Kennedy (160, tied for 31st).

IUP will play host to the Cecil Spadafora/IUP Invitational on April 9-10.  The April 9 round will take place at Tom’s Run Golf Course in Blairsville and the April 10 round will be played at the Indiana Country Club.
