West Chester Edges IUP for PSAC Title; Nic Milito and Gavin Smith Tie for Sixth

IUP fell two shorts shy of West Chester in the battle for the team title at the PSAC championship in Hummelstown.

West Chester had a two-day score of 603 to edge out IUP, which finished at 605.  The top two teams were followed by men's teams from Millersville (611), Clarion (612) and California (619).

Three women's teams competed, with California shooting a 632, Kutztown at 669 and West Chester at 755.

Nic Milito and Gavin Smith were the top IUP individuals, both shooting a 6-over-par score of 150 on the par 72 Wren Dale Golf Club course to tie for sixth place.  Smith had the best round for an IUP golfer over the weekend with a 71 on Sunday.

Thomas Facciani joined Milito and Smith on the all-conference team by placing in a tie for 10th with a score of 153.  Cory Stelick tied for 12th (154) and Joey Reed tied for 19th (156).

Jared Miller of West Chester was the individual medalist, shooting a 145 to take a two-stroke victory over Clarion's Justin Scott.  Miller was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

The tournament was the final one of the fall season for IUP.  The season resumes in the spring when the NCAA regional and national championships take place.
