IUP finished in second place at
the PSAC golf tournament, four strokes behind team champion Clarion.
The Indians, who led by one
shot after the first round, had a final team score of 608. Clarion
shot a 300 on the second day to rally past IUP at the Wren Dale Golf Course.
Following the top two were West
Chester (612), Millersville (616), Slippery Rock (640) and California (646).
California and Kutztown also fielded women's teams.
IUP's Brian Galica tied
Clarion's Justin Moose for first place at the end of 36 holes with identical
scores of 6-over par 150. Moose claimed medalist honors by defeating
Galica on the second playoff hole.
Dan Vollmer gave IUP a pair of
All-PSAC performers, tying for eighth with a score of 153. The top 10
players are recognized for all-conference honors.
Rounding out the IUP
competitors were Aaron Williams (tied for 12th, 154), Michael Schmidt (tied
for 15th, 156) and Eric Anderson (tied for 17th, 157).
IUP returns to action in the
spring, with the NCAA regional and national tournaments taking place during
that season.
