Behind individual medalist Cory Stelick, IUP won its opening golf tournament of the fall, a four-shot victory at the Burger King/Ohio Valley Invitational in Mineral Wells, W.Va.

IUP had a team score of 575, four ahead of Ohio Valley, the host school.  Charleston was another shot back at 580.  IUP easily outdistanced PSAC rivals Millersville (595) and Clarion (601).

A total of 18 teams and 101 players competed, making it the largest tournament this year in the state of West Virginia.

Stelick, an all-region performer last spring, had a 4-under par score of 138 on the par 71 Woodridge Plantation course, a score that included a 68 on Saturday.  He finished three shots ahead of Charleston's Michael Todd.

Gavin Smith, a freshman from Scotland, finished at even par 142 to tie for third place.  Other IUP players were Nic Milito (tied for 11th, 146), Ryan Kennedy (tied for 23rd, 148), Cody Kersey (tied for 25th, 149) and Thomas Facciani (tied for 54th, 157).
