IUP shot a two-day score of
602 to finish in third place at the Cecil Spadafora/IUP Invitational which
wrapped up on Tuesday.
IUP finished just one shot
behind runner-up St. Francis and 11 behind team champion Millersville.
Another shot behind IUP was California while Duquesne (610) and West Chester
(612) rounded out the top six.
The remainder of the
11-team field included Clarion (614), St. Vincent (641), West Virginia
Wesleyan (657), Seton Hill (660) and West Virginia Tech (712).
The first round of the
tournament was held at Tom's Run Golf Club in Blairsville while the second
round was held at the Indiana Country Club.
Cory Stelick and Ryan
Kennedy were the top IUP individuals, tying for 10th with scores of
eight-over par 150. Gavin Smith tied for 17th (152), Thomas Facciani
tied for 22nd (154) and Nic Milito tied for 32nd (157).
Stelick shot a one-under
par 70 on Tuesday, tied for the second best round of the tournament.
IUP's Michael Schmidt competed as an individual and had a score of 148.
Jared Miller of West
Chester won medalist honors with a score of 144, one shot ahead of
Millersville's Jordan O'Keefe.
IUP will compete next at
the West Virginia Wesleyan Invitational on Thursday and Friday.
