Complete Results

IUP sophomore Cody Kersey shot a two-day score of 145 to claim medalist honors, and the Indians prepared for the NCAA East Region tournament by finishing third at the Guy W. Kuhn Invitational hosted by Allegheny.

IUP had a team score of 603, six shots behind team champion Clarion.  Waterloo, a Canadian-based team, was second, one shot shy of the Golden Eagles.

Kersey fired rounds of 73 and 72, the latter tying for the best round of the tournament, on the par 72 course.  Aaron Williams shot a 149 to tie for ninth and give IUP two golfers in the top 10.

Rounding out the IUP competitors were Michael Schmidt (156, tied for 33rd), Cory Stelick (157, 39th) and Eric Anderson (159, tied for 41st).

The tournament was the final event of the regular season for IUP, which will compete in the East Regional beginning Monday at the Speidel Golf Club in Wheeling, W.Va.

IUP is the defending region champion and will be appearing in the postseason for the 10th straight year.  The Indians, who finished 18th at nationals a year ago, will be seeking their fourth trip to the finals since 1998.

Clarion is the only other PSAC school in the tournament.  Also in the field are Ohio Valley, Charleston, Concord, Fairmont State, West Liberty State and West Virginia Wesleyan -- all representing the WVIAC.

The winner of the regional will advance to the national tournament May 16-19 in Daniels, W.Va.
