Due to a scoring error, IUP
actually finished in third place at the Vulcan Invitational held in Belle
Vernon.
It was originally reported
on Saturday that IUP had won the event, but a player who was competing as an
individual (Thomas Facciani) was counted in the IUP team score.
IUP had a two-day score of
622 on the par 72 Cedarbrook course, three shots behind Millersville and two
short of West Liberty State.
Cory Stelick finished
second and Facciani was tied for fourth to lead IUP. Stelick had a
score of 151, one shot behind medalist David Lane of West Liberty State.
Facciani shot a 154.
Also competing for IUP were
Cody Kersey (159, tied for 13th), Joey Reed (160, tied for 16th),
Gavin Smith (161, tied for 19th) and Nic Milito (166, tied for 27th).
IUP concludes its fall
schedule this Saturday and Sunday at the PSAC tournament in Hershey.
