Lydia Dolly Named PSAC
Player of the Week After Shutting Down Bloomsburg
IUP sophomore goalkeeper Lydia Dolly has
been named the PSAC Player of the Week after her performance in a 2-1
win over Bloomsburg on Saturday that vaulted the Crimson Hawks to the
top of the conference standings.
Dolly
(Lancaster/Hempfield) had 13 saves in the victory over the top-ranked
Huskies, including 12 in the first half when she allowed only one goal
despite facing 19 shots over the opening 35 minutes.
IUP then rallied for two goals in the
closing 7:17 to defeat Bloomsburg and take over first place in the PSAC.
The Huskies average better than six goals per game but scored only two
in a pair of losses to the Crimson Hawks this season.
Earlier in the week, Dolly also had two
saves in a 2-0 win over Mansfield on Wednesday, posting her ninth
shutout of the season.
Through the first 14 games of the season,
Dolly has allowed a total of only six goals while playing all 1,000
minutes. Her goals against average of 0.42 and save percentage of .889
are the best in the PSAC.
IUP has
won six in a row heading into Tuesday’s game at Kutztown and is 12-2
overall and 9-1 in the PSAC. The Crimson Hawks will be looking to
avenge a 1-0 loss to the Golden Bears at home on September 15.
