Dave Livengood Selected to Team USA for World Championship of American Football

Former IUP offensive lineman Dave Livengood has been selected as one of 45 players who will make up the roster for Team USA at the 2007 World Championship of American Football in July.

The six-country tournament will be held July 7-15 in Kawasaki, Japan, and this is the first time that the United States will participate in the event.  Team USA will face Germany and Korea in pool play, and the other group includes teams from Japan, Sweden and France.  Japan has won the past two championships.

The United States team was selected by USA Football Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck and Head Coach John Makovic from a pool of 2006 seniors representing all levels of college football.  Schools were asked by USA Football to nominate two seniors, and that list was pared down by the Team USA coaching staff through film evaluation.

A total of 25 players came from the Division I and I-AA ranks.  Livengood is one of 10 Division II players selected, with nine coming from Division III and one from the NAIA.

“It is exciting to have been selected to represent IUP and its great football tradition,” said Livengood.  “It also shows the high level of football that is played on the Division II level.”

Livengood started all 30 games as the IUP left guard from 2004-06 and was a first team All-PSAC West selection his senior season.  He was credited with 48 pancake blocks during his career.
