Fourth at Penn State's Spiked Shoe Invitational

The IUP women's team finished in
fourth place behind only three Division I schools at the Spiked Shoe
Invitational hosted by Penn State on Saturday.
IUP had a total of 125 points,
just six shy of third place St. Joseph's. Penn State won the meet
with 25 points and Columbia was second with 43.
Rounding out the field behind the
Crimson Hawks were St. Francis (136), Felician and Howard (both at 219)
and Niagara (271).
Erica Hoffman was the top
non-Division I runner, finishing 22nd overall with a time of 23:16 on
the 6K course. Maureen Newell also placed in the top 30, taking
26th in 23:27.
Stacie Stockard was 34th (23:51),
Laura Blaesser was 45th (24:26), Bridget Connolly was 55th (24:33),
Marissa Butler was 58th (24:52) and Tatyana Maltseva was 59th (24:52).
On the men's side, IUP was placed
10th with 252 points. Columbia won with 24, followed by Penn State
with 35.
Nate Shelly was 22nd with a time
of 28:00 on the 8K course. He was followed by Ben Shinsky (29:20),
Luke Snyder (30:31), Kyle Hills (30:46) and Ben Havko (30:59).
IUP was competing without No. 2
runner Bobby Boston.
The Crimson Hawks return to
action next Saturday at the Slippery Rock Invitational.
