IUP Teams Place High
at Penn State's Spiked Shoe Invitational

The IUP men’s and
women’s cross country teams both faired well this weekend at the Spiked
Shoe Invitational at State College.
The women placed
second overall out of 17 teams and were led by Mindy Sawtelle, who
finished in second place with a time of 21:33. By placing second, the
Indians defeated Penn State and Bloomsburg, which is ranked ahead of the
Indians in the East Region.
Also placing for the
Indians were Nicole Blaesser who finished tenth with a time of 22:21,
and Erica Hoffman who finished 24th with a time of 22:44.
The men placed fifth
overall and were led by Eric Kruttschnitt, who finished with a time of
26:57 and was 28th individually. Also placing for the
Indians were Adam Shinsky, who ran a time of 27:20 to finish 36th, and
Nick Hornick, who finished 39th with a time of 27:27. IUP
ran without No. 1 runner Jorge Medina.
IUP returns to
action October 8th when both teams compete in the for the
Slippery Rock Invitational.
