IUP assistant coach and
former pitching standout Anthony Rebyanski was selected to compete in the
Frontier League all-star game which was held Wednesday night in Florence,
Ky.
Rebyanski,
who pitches for the Windy City ThunderBolts in the independent league,
worked one inning for the North team and allowed a run on a solo homer and
struck out one.
Rebyanski is enjoying an
outstanding season for the ThunderBolts, pitching in 21 games in relief with
a 2-0 record, one save and a 1.88 ERA. In 24 innings, he has allowed
20 hits and only six runs, five earned, while walking 12 and striking out
33.
His team has a record of
34-12 and owns an 11-game lead in the Central Division. This is
Rebyanski's first season with the ThunderBolts after playing part of the
summer of 2006 with the Gateway Grizzlies, striking out 36 batters in 27.1
innings.
Rebyanski played at IUP
from 2002-05 and ranks fourth in school history with 163 strikeouts.
He won 12 games in his career, was the 2002 PSAC West Rookie of the Year and
was honored as the IUP Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year after his senior
season.
