Paul Bingham Named First PSAC West Player of the Week for 2007 Season

IUP freshman shortstop Paul Bingham has been named the first PSAC West Player of the Week for the 2007 season.

Bingham leads the PSAC with an average of .529, banging out 18 hits in 34 at bats.  In 12 games, including 10 starts, he has a double, two triples, scored eight runs and driven in five.  He has stolen two bases and committed only one error in 43  chances.

Bingham is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak during which he has 17 hits in 25 at bats for a .680 average.  Included in that streak are four three-hit games and two other contests with two hits.

He had 11 hits in 15 at bats with two triples, six runs scored and three RBI in a four-game series against Newport News Apprentice last weekend.

IUP went 4-10 during its southern trip and plays doubleheaders on the road each of the next three days.  The Crimson Hawks are at Mercyhurst on Thursday and Seton Hill on Friday and Saturday.

The twinbill against Seton Hill on Friday was originally scheduled to be played at IUP but was moved to Greensburg due to field conditions.
