*SPECIAL NOTE:
Mandatory Health Insurance Policy at IUP
In accordance with federal regulations and IUP policy, all international students in F and J visa status are required to maintain valid medical insurance for the period of time they are enrolled. Students in F and J visa status will be billed for the student group health insurance plan endorsed by the Student Cooperative Association, Inc. In order to be waived from the fee students must complete this "Certificate of Medical Insurance Compliance Form" available at Pechan Health Center or at the International Student Services office. Forms must be returned by the "add/drop" deadline each semester. Students who properly complete and return this documentation will have the charge for the student insurance plan removed from their university account. If at any time IUP becomes aware that the student is not covered by an insurance plan that is in compliance with the policy, the student will automatically be billed for the student group health insurance plan at the earliest possible enrollment period. This policy will not be waived.

Academic Success Begins with Orientation
Academic Orientation—MANDATORY for all new students.
The easiest way to start off on the right foot at IUP is to know all about the academic resources and expectations. Each academic department is part of a “college” (for example, College of Fine Arts). Academic orientation is your opportunity to meet your department chairperson or program director, learn about resources available to you in your department, understand course requirements, and get the inside scoop for scheduling classes in the future. You can also find out more about academic and departmental clubs, honoraries and other opportunities available through your department.
