The Department of Special Education and Clinical Services houses a unique blend of four interrelated programs of study:
Education of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Persons
, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Disability Services, and Education of Persons with Hearing Loss. Through that unified and interrelated program structure, exiting graduate and undergraduate students are prepared to assume employment in diverse settings in which children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities receive services. Consistent with federal law and accreditation standards, the Department serves a major role in enhancing the ability of preservice educators to provide a variety of life-span services, which focus on development and implementation of education, transition, habilitation and rehabilitation plans for people with disabilities. The Department also provides courses to enhance the ability of regular educators to teach children, youth, and young adults with special needs.
