Spring 2007 THANK YOU
-
What
is Into the Streets?
-
Into the Streets is a
chance for IUP students to become involved in the community helping
various agencies who participate. It is also an opportunity for local
non-profit and/or human service agency to finish projects that may have
been postponed due to lack of time or resources we are those
resources. Past projects include tree planting/landscaping, conducting
clean up efforts, painting, and offering services to the aged or
physically challenged. The projects are determined by the Agencies
involved.
-
Can
I get some background information about Into the Streets?
-
Into the Streets
is not unique to IUP, it is national and encourages university
members to participate and become active members of the local
communities. For some the program provides a first time experience,
yet for others it is just one way that both the Indiana community
and the IUP community are striving to bridge the gap between the
classroom and the local community.
-
When is Into the Streets?
-
Held
in both the fall and spring semesters, Into the Streets allows
individual students, groups of students, and members of student
organizations to be involved in a project.
It is our hope
that the enthusiasm of our office encourages you and/or your organization to
join others in the upcoming Into the Streets day of service. We look
forward to working with you on this wonderful event that strengthens our
community!
