GUIDELINES FOR UNIVERSITY COMMENCEMENT AWARDS

Distinguished Faculty Awards for:
Service-Creative Arts-Research-Teaching

Each year IUP honors the superior contribution of its faculty in the areas
of Research, Service, Creative Arts, and Teaching. An engraved plaque and
monetary stipend are presented at Commencement to those recognized for
their accomplishments.

The University Awards Committee recognizes that no single model exists for
outstanding contributions. The Committee further recognizes the diversity
of the faculty and their activities. The intent of the Research, Creative
Arts, Service, and Teaching Awards is to honor an outstanding individual
in those areas, although there may not be awardees in each area each year.

ELIGIBILITY

1. All faculty are eligible for nomination, provided they have completed
five years of professional service at IUP. Recipients may not be
nominated for the same award until five years have lapsed.

2. A person may be nominated for only one award in any given year. An
award recipient may be nominated in subsequent years for an award in
another category.

3. Members of the University Awards Committee are not eligible for
nomination.

administrators. Nomination Forms are available from the University Awards
Committee Chairperson. Forms must indicate the specific award for which
each person is being nominated.

accepting the nomination, nominees grant the Committee the right to
discuss it with the nominee's chair/supervisor/colleagues should questions

2. Supportive Statement of not more than three pages that speaks to the
award criteria. (It may be written by the nominee and/or the nominator and

on the previous five years. These may include appropriate letters of
