This program is a nonsectarian course of scholarly study that provides a balanced, cross-cultural approach to the academic study of different religions, including, for example, native North American religions.  It's not a theology program.  One of our aims is to enable students to compare religions and understand their similarities and differences.  The program complements many other areas of the curriculum and affords excellent preparation for careers in religious education, religious journalism, and religious broadcasting.  It also offers a good academic foundation for students who plan to enter Catholic, Jewish, or Protestant seminaries.

Internships are available at seminaries and at religious organizations and publications.  Religious studies majors deliver papers and participate as panelists at the annual State System of Higher Education Philosophy and Religious Studies Conference.
