Act 48 requires all Pennsylvania educators holding Pennsylvania public school
certification to participate in ongoing professional education. In compliance
with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Act 48, the IUP Registrar's
Office will report college credits earned by PA certified professional
educators to the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the School District
employing the professional educator.
Upon the successful completion of your credit bearing
course, you must complete
the Act 48 Certification Request for IUP to report that information to the
Pennsylvania Department of Education. Submit your request electronically, via
the Internet through the following procedure:
1. Access the website http://old.www.iup.edu/ursa.
2. Click on “Login to Secure Area.”
3. When prompted for your USER ID, enter the number that appears above the picture on your I-Card. Be sure to begin the number with the @ symbol.
4. Enter your PIN number, and then click “Login”. (If this is the first time you have ever logged into the system, your PIN number is a random six digit number available from the Registrar's Scheduling Office.)
5. Click on “Student Services.”
6. Click on “Academic Records.”
7. Click on “Act 48 Course Request.”
8. Complete the address information as requested. Press the “Continue” button.
9. Select the courses you wish to submit to PDE. Then press the “Submit” button.
10. Click on “Exit” to leave the system, then exit your browser.
NOTE: Certification requests for non-credit courses should be directed to IUP's
School of Continuing Education.
