Minor in Applied Statistics
The minor in Applied Statistics, consisting of 17 semester hours, may be of interest to students who are required to take a calculus course and a course in probability and statistics. This includes, but is not limited to, students in the Eberly College of Business, Safety Science majors, and Computer Science majors.

A cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 in MA courses is required for a minor in Mathematics or Applied Statistics. The Mathematics Department will not certify a minor for a transfer student unless at least two of the courses counting for the minor have been completed in the IUP Mathematics Department.

Minor-Applied Statistics

The minor in Applied Statistics consists of 17 semester hours in Mathematics selected as follows:




(a) Introductory calculus course: MA121, MA123, or MA127

(b) Introductory statistics course: MA214, MA216, or MA217

(c) MA417

(d) MA418



The remaining hours may be chosen from the following:

(a) a second calculus course: MA122, MA124, or MA128

(b) MA171

(c) Any course for mathematics majors approved by the Applied Statistics Advisor.
