The
Department of Industrial and Labor Relations offers a graduate program within
the College of Health and Human Services leading to the degree of Master of Arts
in Industrial and Labor Relations. The 42-credit program consists of a required
core of 27 credits, including an elective thesis and elective course offerings
totaling 15 credits. Internships are available and strongly encouraged.
The program is multidisciplinary, combining analytical and human relations
skills with knowledge drawn from social sciences and business disciplines. The
degree is designed to prepare professional industrial and labor relations
practitioners in public and private management, unions, neutral agencies,
government agencies, and arbitration panels. It has as a special emphasis labor
relations in the public sector.
While the department does not offer coursework leading to an undergraduate major
or degree, it does offer several undergraduate courses which are open to
students of any major or college.
