Randall Marchi ’78,
a recent graduate of the Army War College, was promoted to the rank of
Brigadier General in the Pennsylvania National Guard on June 2, 2007,
during a ceremony at Fort Indiantown Gap.
“Colonel Marchi has
become General Marchi because he has spent his thirty-four years in the
Army taking care of soldiers and doing it well,” said Maj. Gen. Jessica
Wright, commander of the Pennsylvania National Guard. “When I would call
him and tell him that his soldiers were coming back from Iraq, he would
get up in the middle of the night to greet them no matter how difficult it
was. He has juggled his civilian career, family, and the military and
remained successful with all.”
“I thank you all for
your years of coaching and mentoring,” said Marchi to his family members
and fellow service members. “I have a leadership trait from each of you
who I have had the honor to serve with over the years. You are the reason
I am standing here today.”
Marchi was formally the
28th Infantry Division Artillery commander and will now serve as assistant
adjutant general, Joint Force Headquarters, for the Pennsylvania National
Guard. In civilian life, Marchi lives in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and is a
certified public accountant, a certified fraud examiner, and a certified
governmental financial manager employed by the Office of the Auditor
General in Harrisburg.
“I thank General Wright
for this opportunity and look forward to the new challenges that it will
bring me,” said Marchi.

his daughter, Kathryn Marchi, during the ceremony promoting him to
Brigadier General.
