Mary Jo Dressel ’82 was one of four Bank of New York Mellon employees chosen to represent the organization at the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on July 2, 2007, celebrating the successful close of the merger between the Bank of New York and Mellon Financial Corporation.

Dressel has been with Mellon Financial Corporation since 1986 in various areas, taking on increasing levels of responsibility. In December 2006 she was selected to be the HR integration manager from Mellon for the merger of the Bank of New York and Mellon. She worked with her Bank of New York counterpart to oversee more than twenty different workstreams related to a range of HR issues, including compensation and benefits, employee relations, diversity and employee engagement, and others. Because of her performance, she was recognized and selected as one of four employees (out of 40,000) to represent BNYMellon on the NYSE podium at the opening bell.
