Professional Sequence I
Students are placed in
groups or cohorts of approximately 16 and then enroll in a set of courses
known as Professional Sequence I. These 5 courses (13 credits are the first
"methods courses." Four of the courses are held in the traditional manner in
the university classroom, while one course, Pre-Student Teaching, is a field
experience. This allows the student to begin to put theory into practice
through actual work in elementary and early childhood classrooms.

link for more information.
-
Professional Sequence II (Junior
Block)
The Professional Sequence II
experience (formerly referred to as Junior Block) prepares students for the
full semester of student teaching that awaits them. Cooperating teachers and
university supervisors play vital roles in ensuring students' immersion into
public school teaching so that they have a positive experiential base upon
which to build.

Study Abroad
IUP is one of only four
American universities to be a member institution of ETEN, the European Teacher
Education Network. Through our membership in ETEN, we are able to offer a
wide variety of international study experiences for IUP students and faculty
members.
-
International Student Teaching (IST)
Students from Indiana
University of Pennsylvania who are enrolled as teacher education majors in all
certification areas are eligible to participate in this half-semester student
teaching program. Students are assigned to a teaching site in the United
States for the first half of the semester. The second half of the student
teaching experience is completed in an overseas site. The program is designed
to provide students with teaching experiences in one of six European
countries. Teaching assignments are made for all certification areas.
