IUP is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.



University Goals, Academic Year 2006-2007

1. IUP will complete a new university five-year strategic plan including major goals, assessment of goal outcomes, vision statement and core values.

2. IUP will launch a new administrative agenda in the Murtha Institute of Homeland Security under a new executive director, and develop a strategic plan (5 year) for development and success.

3. IUP will pursue a universitywide integrated marketing plan.

4. IUP will completely redesign its web site to be more effective in
recruiting students and communicating the image and key messages of IUP.

5. IUP will develop an IUP diversity plan in concert with the PaSSHE Diversity Plan.

6. IUP will develop a Community College Partnership initiative to develop institutional agreements and expand program to program articulation agreements.

7. IUP will strengthen and enhance graduate programs and curriculum along with “high demand” masters and doctoral programming.

8. IUP will secure official and final reaccreditation from Middle States and integrate key recommendations into new university strategic plan.

9. IUP will review and enhance operations of university assessment and planning operations.

10. IUP will complete the review of the report and recommendations of the President’s Commission on Reducing Student Substance Abuse and institute major strategies and proposed policy revisions as deemed appropriate to curb the incidence of student substance abuse at the university. A system for assessing the effectiveness of strategies and policy changes will be developed and implemented.

11. IUP will develop and advance undergraduate research universitywide.

12. IUP will broaden university participation in workforce education and advance economic development initiatives and opportunities.

13. IUP will continue efforts of the comprehensive plan to increase philanthropic giving.

14. IUP will maximize financial resources through state appropriations, tuition, fees, federal, contract and grant opportunities to increase institutional agility, effectiveness and efficiency.

15. IUP will enhance the enrollment management plan to strategically and aggressively recruit both undergraduate and graduate enrollments.

16. IUP will complete the IUP Technology and Information Plan. Strategies will be reviewed and developed for establishing enhanced central leadership and support for IUP Technology and Information Services.
