Community
Oriented Policing
(Crime Prevention) University Police officers work in partnership with the IUP community to discourage criminal activity and educate students about the ramification of unlawful acts. Local and state law enforcement officials cooperate with the Office of Student Affairs to communicate information about arrests that are made in Indiana that involve IUP students. University Police work diligently to build the kind of rapport with students that brings about trust. University officers on the morning shift (7am to 3pm) and afternoon shift (3pm to 11pm) are assigned to specific residential and academic buildings and serve as liaisons to residents and commuters. High police officer visibility and consistency of patrols provide students and staff the opportunity to get to know the officers and act as a deterrent to crime. To see how
