The Mid-Atlantic Addiction Training Institute (MAATI) is a consortium of
academic and professional experts in the field of alcohol abuse treatment.

near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was formed in 1988 as a partnership among
Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Gateway Rehabilitation Center of Greater
Pittsburgh, and the Livengrin Foundation of Bensalem, Pennsylvania (near
Philadelphia).
Gateway Rehabilitation Center is a non-profit network of community-based
treatment centers providing personalized addiction treatment to adults and
youth. Forbes magazine has listed Gateway as one of the "ten best" rehabilitation
centers in the country. Livengrin similarly offers high quality
care for alcohol and drug abuse through its 100-bed in-patient facility in
suburban Philadelphia and at two out-patient centers. Indiana University of
Pennsylvania (IUP) is a state campus of nearly 15,000 approximately 50 miles
northeast of Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Robert J. Ackerman, a noted author, lecturer, and researcher in the field
of alcohol and the family, is the founding director, and Dr. Edward Gondolf, a
nationally recognized researcher in the domestic violence field and treatment
evaluation, is the director of research. The staff includes a
project coordinator, secretary, research assistants, graduate assistants,
database manager, data entry staff, and student assistants.
MAATI also awards two graduate assistantships through Indiana University of
Pennsylvania annually. One is the Domestic
Violence Study Assistantship and the other is the MAATI Assistantship. |
