On behalf of the Liberal Studies Revision Steering Committee, I thank the University Senate for voting to endorse the committee's work to date on the proposal for the LS Curriculum Framework.

The most recent version of the proposal was emailed to the university community last week. If you have not reviewed the document, please consider doing this before you depart for the semester break. If you did not receive the information and wish to have a copy, please direct your request to the LS office (110 Gordon, X 7-5715).

As a work in progress, we ask that any additional feedback on the LS Curriculum Framework proposal be submitted to me by 1 p.m. on January 15th. For your information the following timeline is projected:

12/11/06 – 1/15/07

 

Accept final feedback on the LS Framework proposal.

 

1/16 – 1/19/07

 

Make final changes to the LS Framework and advance to the University Senate agenda as an item “For Information”.

 

1/30/07

 

 

LS Framework to the Senate as a finished document “For Information”
(for action at the 3/27 meeting).
Begin input process for next phase - credit distribution across categories, overall requirements, and assessment plan.

 

1/16 – 2/06/07

 

LSRSC work on credit distribution across categories, overall requirements and assessment plan; advance recommendations to the University Senate “For Discussion”.

 

2/13/07 Additional University Senate meeting devoted to LS curriculum issues;
dialogue/debate about credit distribution, overall requirements, and plan for assessing student learning.

 

2/27/07 Regular University Senate meeting: LS curriculum issues on agenda for continued dialogue/debate on credit distribution, overall requirements, and assessment plan.

 

3/9/07 Deadline for feedback on credit distribution across categories, overall requirements and assessment plan.

 

3/27/07 Regular University Senate meeting: items “For Action”: LS Framework; Credit Distribution, Overall Requirements, and Assessment Plan.

 

4/10/07 Additional University Senate meeting pending the need for further discussion/debate on LS curriculum issues; possible action on items from 3/27 meeting.

 

5/5/07 University Senate meeting: possible action on items from 4/10 meeting.

 

   
  Timeline beyond May 5, 2007 is dependent on University Senate actions related to LS revision items.
