When can I expect to find out whether I have been admitted?

Notification of admission varies but, in general, from the date your admission application is complete, it will take 2 - 4 weeks for a decision to be made.

Once an international student is admitted, his/her acceptance letter is sent to the Office of International Affairs who mails out all the acceptance packages to international students. These packages include acceptance letter, immigration document, orientation information, etc and are mailed by airmail. Students interested in having their acceptance package mailed via DHL should contact the OIA with credit card information.

Earliest dates for acceptance packages to be mailed to international students:

    • Fall enrollment - February
    • Spring enrollment - October
    • Summer enrollment - February

    Medical Insurance Agreement

An explanation of this policy can be found at:
    www.iup.edu/healthcenter

Indiana University of Pennsylvania requires J and F visa holders to have health insurance.  Each semester of enrollment students must provide proof of insurance coverage to waive the IUP health insurance.

    Minimum Insurance Requirements:

    • Major Medical benefits of at least $50,000
    • $10,000 for medical evacuation
    • $7,500 for repatriation
    • Deductible may not exceed $500 per accident or illness

As defined by federal regulations, students who possess J visas must also carry the same level of insurance coverage for a spouse and/or dependent child(ren).  Students may select an insurance policy that is in compliance with the stated requirements.

Students who are J and F visa holders will be billed for the Consolidated Health Plans, Inc. student group health insurance policy if proof of insurance is not provided. Information about the Consolidated policy is located at http://www.chpstudent.com (look in the "student insurance - school brochures" section of the web site for the IUP brochure). Students that provide proof of insurance by the specified deadline each semester will be waived from this fee and will have the charge removed from their student account. The student must maintain valid medical insurance for the entire period of time of enrollment at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. If at any time the university becomes aware that the student is not covered by an insurance plan that is in compliance with the policy, the student will automatically be billed for the student group health insurance plan at the earliest possible enrollment period.

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE INSURANCE— YOU MUST FILL OUT A WAIVER FORM. They are available at Pechan Health Center, at the Office of International Affairs or e-mail, health-inquiry@iup.edu.
