First, make sure you
don't already have virus protection installed on your PC. If you do,
uninstall it using either that uninstall feature your virus protection
came with or by going into add/remove programs and removing it. Many
anti-virus programs have more than one programs associated with them under
add/remove programs so make sure you remove them all before attempting to
install McAfee.
You
will need to enter your IUP Network account username,
domain and password to download Mcafee. If you
don’t know this information log onto the URSA website to look them up. Go
to
http://old.www.iup.edu/ursa/ and log into the secure
Area.
Enter your ID and PIN #.
Select Personal Information and Surveys.
Select Display Your IUP Computer Account
Information for students. Write down the information
provided. Then go to
https://old.www.iup.edu/netpwdchg/ and change your initial password.
To
download McAfee go to
http://old.www.iup.edu/tsc/iuponly/mcafee/vs80i.exe. This
version only works with Windows XP, 200 and 2003.
As mentioned earlier, MAKE
SURE YOU REMOVE ANY OTHER VIRUS PROTECTION BEFORE YOU
INSTALL MCAFEE. A window will open requesting
you username and password. You need to enter your iup
network
username, domain and network password. If there is not
a place to enter your domain, enter your it into the
username field as domain\username. All IUP students use
IUPMSD as their domain so the format would be
IUPMSD\ABCD were ABCD is your four letter
username.

Once
you’ve entered your information and clicked on OK you
see the following window.

Click on open and follow through the installation
procedure. You will need to reset your computer when the
installation is finished. As long as your PC can
get to the internet McAfee should keep it self up to
date but you may want to check it once in a while by
right clicking on the shield icon on the bottom right
hand of your screen and checking the date under "About
Virus Scan Enterprise." If the date is older
than a few days you should right click on the icon again
and choose "Update Now."
Go to
http://old.www.iup.edu/tsc/mcafee/ for more
information about IUP's version of McAfee Anti-Virus.
