Lawrence Hall super single

Although rooms vary in size, most even-numbered rooms are 16’1” x 12’0” (180.6 square feet) with a window measuring 3’10” x 5’4” (w x h), while odd-numbered rooms are 15’11” x 11’10”  (180.6 square feet) with a window measuring 4’8” x 5’4”.  The walls are plaster and are slightly over eight feet high.  Two-person rooms are equipped with dressers, wardrobes with mirrors, desks with attached bookshelves, desk chairs, beds, two trash cans (one for recyclables and the other for regular trash).  The window has a pull-down shade and a curtain rod that requires drapery hooks to attach curtains; curtains are not provided.  All furniture can be moved within the room.  The standard bunk bed arrangement has 19” from the floor to the top of the lower mattress and 57” from the floor to the top of the upper mattress; this arrangement allows approximately eight inches of clearance under the lower mattress.  Lighting is provided in the room via fluorescent lamps located on the bookshelf above the desks and overhead on the ceiling.  Super singles are equipped with new movable furniture that includes a desk with attached bookshelf, desk chair, a bed, a dresser, and a wardrobe with a mirror.

Residents are encouraged to decorate their rooms; however, university-owned furniture cannot be removed from the room.  Pictures and posters can be hung using poster putty.  Nails, bolts, tacks, glue, or other adhesives cannot be used to affix materials to the walls.  Requests for painting must be approved in advance by the Residence Director.   Students may NOT return prior to the official opening of the residence hall to paint their rooms.
