The IUP
Hospitality Management curriculum
consists of a core of general hospitality management
courses, selected business management courses,
university liberal studies requirements, and a course
track based upon students’ career interests, leading to
a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management. The program includes
courses specific to the major and general education
courses to help students develop an overall business
knowledge base.
Students are provided a foundation in the traditional
academic areas to complement the state-of-the-art
business and hospitality courses. The program is
structured to provide both a practical and theoretical
education. An integral part of the curriculum is the
hospitality-related work experience, designed to enhance
students’ job skills through courses that are directly
applicable to hospitality management. These combined
work experiences assist in the development of a resume
that meets industry needs and simultaneously prepares
students for the increasingly complex and challenging
hospitality industry.
