DEPARTMENT OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT MISSION

We will develop competent, entry-level, hospitality management professionals who meet and exceed contemporary industry needs while preparing them for the attainment of continued future career growth and achievement.

           

To accomplish this mission the department has developed the following student outcomes: 

1.      Students will demonstrate an ability to apply the following hospitality management human relations skills:  

  • Understanding of organizational theory & behavior of a service culture

  • Diversity

  • Working in teams

  • Human Behavior

2.    Students will demonstrate “Knowledge” in Hospitality Management operational areas.

  • Food Preparation  

  • Food Production 

  • Food Safety

  • MIS as it relates to Hospitality Management

  • Finances and Accounting

  • Legal Issues

  • Marketing

         3.      Students will demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively

           3.1        Students will demonstrate competency in written communication
           3.2        Students will demonstrate competency in oral communication

4.      Students will demonstrate an understanding of their professional and ethical responsibility in hospitality management.

    4.1   Students will act in a professional and ethical manner while completing their coursework and while on internship.

5. Students will demonstrate an understanding of continued scholarly growth and community service.

      5.1   Students will develop an understanding of scholarly growth and community  
service by becoming members of student clubs, honor societies, and through community service learning activities.
